If you’re looking for a large, rustic home set within a beautiful natural landscape, surrounded by trees, open grasslands, and not a few examples of both wild and domestic life, Oviedo may be the community of choice for you.
When you see the elegant country and Spanish-styled homes and the large lots of yard and open space, it’s easy to forget that Oviedo is actually only 20 minutes away from Downtown Orlando (by highway).
It’s the perfect location for the person who likes having access to ‘big city’ amenities and resources, but prefers to spend the majority of their time outside enjoying the fresh air.
Oviedo covers a range of 15 square miles, which may seem small compared to other municipalities.
However, its motto “growing in the right direction” is an apt one, for Oviedo is the fastest growing community in Seminole county.
What began as a small township and primarily farmland has in recent decades become a thriving, diverse community with many affordable housing and commercial options.
The residents of Oviedo enjoy a large variety of outdoor recreation and adventure. So much so, in fact, that the city offers a 20 page guide of park and recreational activities for the summer, just to make sure there isn’t something in the area that you’re missing out on. There are 11 parks and sports complexes in Oviedo, including a Gymnasium and Aquatic Facility.
From summer camp to airboat rides, from butterfly exhibits to rock wall climbing, from archery classes for the family to the Rippin’ Riverside Skate Park; if you’re interested in having a good time engaging in community activities and events, you’ll almost never run out of new things to do in Oviedo. Should you ever eventually wear yourself out, there’s plenty of dining and shopping opportunities throughout Oviedo and in the neighboring cities.
Remember, downtown Orlando is only 20 minutes away so it’s easy as hoping in the car if you want to take in a basketball game at the Amway center or stroll through an art gallery for a change of pace.
Oviedo is located in Seminole county, and offers many ‘A’ rated schools, as well as 27 pre-schools. In fact, Seminole county consistently ranks highest in the state when it comes to school test scores and graduation rates.
Seminole has been repeatedly voted as one of the best counties in the nation for public education. Oviedo was itself voted by Family Circle as one of the Top Ten Towns for Families in 2011, and Best Place to Raise Kids in Florida by Bloomberg Businessweek in 2013.
